Tattered Garments

The Lord is bringing this mission into a unique closeness with Him.

He is revealing to us things which have been hidden in the natural but now by His Spirit He is opening our minds and hearts to the truth.

The building block of our faith is love, and Jesus is that corner stone of our faith. If we try and keep Jesus out of our faith we are going to trip and stumble. If we try and discount the teachings of Jesus that rock will become a rock of offense. When we preach the Gospel it must be the full gospel given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ and not a watered down version so it does not offend the ears of those who are listening.

The Gospel must not be a stone on which all stumble.

The world and Jesus do not mix it’s like oil and water they are to opposites so the values of this world are opposite to the values of the Kingdom of God.

When we preach we need to give the full teaching not just the promises of God and how wonderful He is but people need to be told of the curses also that will follow those who do not believe and accept His word.

People say to us all the time I love my Lord and Saviour and then go on to reveal the fruit of there heart, un-forgiveness or inner anger at someone and painful hurts. They need Jesus but they quite often they have not met Him yet, does Jesus love them any less than He loves us?

NO Jesus loves us all the same, can you heal their pain?

NO of course you cannot quite often they have already been and seen this and that looked into all possible cures and solutions and finally they come to you as a last resort as it were. This is when you realize that what we have here is a tortured soul, who has been tossed and turned by Satan and as a final blow even though they are with you, there ears are closed and there hearts are hardened and there eyes are shut. They are looking for help but do not really want to receive it, in fact they have given up on you before you even speak to them such is their pain. It’s like an old coat familiar but worn out and desperately in need of replacing stinking with pain and anger but to comfortable to cast off. Am I speaking to anyone here?

When we come to know Him we are wearing that old tattered filthy Garment and Jesus offers you a garment of praise – OH

Is 61:3 To grant [consolation and joy] to those who mourn in Zion--to give them an ornament (a garland or diadem) of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment [expressive] of praise instead of a heavy, burdened, {and} failing spirit--that they may be called oaks of righteousness [lofty, strong, and magnificent, distinguished for uprightness, justice, and right standing with God], the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

But that’s to big a step Bishop Maybe I’m kind of comfortable in my old garment with all its problems. The  truth is it’s all I ever knew and I know it may  stink a little  and it is a bit  un comfortable, but it is a real  comfort to me in a painful kind of way – What!

You would really rather drag all your burdens and miseries around with you

Instead of allowing the Lord to remove that burden you want to keep hold of it - ?

Don’t you want to be healed, or Don’t you believe Jesus can heal you?

Matt 17:20 He said to them, Because of the littleness of your faith [that is, your lack of firmly relying trust]. For truly I say to you, if you have faith [that is living] like a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, Move from here to yonder place, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.

It all boils down to faith and letting go, you need to let go of those problems, those pains, those hurts, those addictions and allow Jesus to take them away, you have to let that wound heal. If you keep picking at the wound as it is trying to heal, you are going to stop that healing process and maybe make that infection worse still. Satan wants to keep you bound in this state,

Jesus even tells us:-

Mark 2:22 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; if he does, the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost and the bottles destroyed; but new wine is to be put in new (fresh) wineskins.

We have to have a change of heart and allow Jesus to come in and heal those wounds.

We have to let go and let Jesus so that when you come before the Lord you need to leave that old tattered coat at the door, actually When you come to know the Lord you need to put off that old tattered Garment and put on your Garment of praise. You need to leave your problems at the door. That coat may seem comfortable to you but after a while it’s going to stink the church out. You may think its ok to sit there moaning and complaining about what’s wrong in your life.

But the rest of the folks want to jump up and down rejoicing and celebrating what Jesus has done in their life and how He is still going to do more than they could ever imagine. Because Jesus is a God of more than Just enough, He is a God of above and beyond. So when we come to worship the Lord our heart needs to be filled with who He is, we need to get rid of that old garment with our problems and our baggage in it and put on a garment of praise. we need to take our focus off us and place it on Him when we enter His gates. Jesus knows your pain  He wants to Heal you, He has healed you and He wants to see your faith when you stand up and claim that healing with thanks giving in your heart. Then you can enter His courts with praise and say this is the day that the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad in it. Remember no matter how you feel your God is still the same, His thoughts to you are unchanging so put on that garment of praise and let’s go and worship Him. When you come to leave don’t be in such a hurry to pick up that old tattered garment, instead try the garment of praise on for a while and you will find that the Lord will break that spirit of heaviness off your life and give you the oil of Joy and Gladness

Amen.

God bless
