Receive the word
We need to bare fruit for our Lord, we need to be growing within the Kingdom and not standing still. The word which we hear is the seed which God wants to plant in your heart.
Matt 13:1 THAT SAME day Jesus went out of the house and was sitting beside the sea.
Matt 13:2 But such great crowds gathered about Him that He got into a boat and remained sitting there, while all the throng stood on the shore.
We need to draw near to Jesus to listen and absorb His every word.
The crowds were hungry and thirsty for Jesus are you?
Matt 13:3 And He told them many things in parables (stories by way of illustration and comparison), saying, A sower went out to sow.
There are things which have been hidden, which God now is choosing to reveal to you through His word.
Are you ready to receive what God has set aside for you?
When we hear the word from the Lord we need to:-
To understand the word that was spoken to you.
To listened and absorbed the teaching.
To let the word take root in our heart.
To claim that word or that promise today and apply it to our life.
Are you going to apply that word and build your life upon it, so that you will Bare Fruit?
Matt 4:4 But He replied, It has been written, Man shall not live {and} be upheld {and} sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.
Matt 13:4 And as he sowed, some seeds fell by the roadside, and the birds came and ate them up.
If we do not grasp the teaching that the Lord has given us then it is snatched away and we will bare no fruit in our lives. Days later you may think back to the service last Sunday how many can remember the word that was given. Satan wants to stop you receiving the blessing, He knows the word of God is power and He knows if you apply that word the very gates of Hell are going to shake in fear. So Satan will come and try to steal away that word that was given to you before you can fully understand it, and realize its power.
He might make you sleepy, preoccupy you with other things or create a distraction.
Matt 13:5 Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they had not much soil; and at once they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil.
Matt 13:6 But when the sun rose, they were scorched, and because they had no root, they dried up {and} withered away.
God’s word must take root in our hearts, it must be understood, so Satan can not steal it. The word must take a strong root in our lives, the words must endure, when we try to build it into our daily walk as Gold is tried. Every word we receive from God is precious, much more precious than gold.
For gold is tried in the furnace where it is heated until it melts, then the impurities that float to the surface are removed to leave pure gold. Now in our walk we are tried in the furnace of affliction, and the words we receive are for the building up of our faith. The Lord gradually scrapes away our worldly ways, so that we see things new through his word and cling and rely on Him. God is Purifying and pruning us in order to bring His Son more into our lives, the word must stand in all afflictions and temptations.
The word must not cause us to stumble; it must not offend us but become a stepping stone in our walk of faith. Enabling us to see clearer and understand that which was hidden from us, but now Jesus through His word has chosen to reveal Himself to us.
Matt 13:7 Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them out.
The pleasures of this world are so short lived and fade as instantly as they appear but the Joy of the Lord is my strength and shall last for ever.
We are called to be set apart for His glory, to live within the world but not be part of it. Family problems, relationships, money troubles, family feuds etc. All these things try to distract us and pull us off our path way from God. The word of the Lord is :-
Ps 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
We have to walk by faith and not by sight we cannot allow the things of this world to affect our faith walk with the Lord. We must take all our troubles to Jesus to roll our burdens upon Him, to take His yolk upon us for His word is life. Prov 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the [consistently] righteous man [upright and in right standing with God] runs into it and is safe, high [above evil] {and} strong.
Do not Judge God on things that are happening right now, because God is the same yesterday today and forever. God does not change, He loves us He does not want us to perish, He calls us by name.
When the storm comes remember who God is, when Jesus says something Know you can trust Him and believe the word He has spoken into your life.
Matt 13:8 Other seeds fell on good soil, and yielded grain--some a hundred times as much as was sown, some sixty times as much, and some thirty.
Heb 4:12 For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing {and} sifting {and} analyzing {and} judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.
John 8:31 So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in Him, If you abide in My word [hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them], you are truly My disciples.
Luke 1:37 For with God nothing is ever impossible {and} no word from God shall be without power {or} impossible of fulfillment.
God’s word is power, it has the ability to change and transform lives, it can quicken mortal bodies, it can speak things into being that were not, it is the rock on which we must build our lives.
The word applied is a word of power!
Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God
John 8:51 I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone observes My teaching [lives in accordance with My message, keeps My word], he will by no means ever see {and} experience death.
John 14:23 Jesus answered, If a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word [obey My teaching]; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him.
John 15:3 You are cleansed {and} pruned already, because of the word which I have given you [the teachings I have discussed with you].
Matt 13:9 He who has ears [to hear], let him be listening {and} let him consider {and} perceive {and} comprehend by hearing.
All scripture that is given to us from the Lord is given to show us How to live, how we should love others for the heart of God is love.
The Bible is the revelation of Gods love for us. For any good son or daughter to walk perfectly before him we need instruction and his word is that instruction. Church is not a place to sleep, or daydream or pass time, to be seen etc. It is the house of God, a place of instruction and learning,
Eccl 3:1 TO EVERYTHING there is a season, and a time for every matter {or} purpose under heaven: Eccl 3:8 A time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
Eccl 3:17 I said in my heart, God will judge the righteous and the wicked, for there is a time [appointed] for every matter {and} purpose and for every work.
Now is the time to Listen to what God is telling you, For God only wants the best for you.
Ps 46:10 Let be {and} be still, and know (recognize and understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth!
What a mighty God we serve and His word is such a blessing to our lives.
