Heart of God
We can spend forever searching the scriptures looking for an answer to a question ‘What does God want me to do?’
Or somebody might say ‘God has a plan for your life’. You could then spend years waiting for God to come knocking on your door to tell you His plan. In fact you could be sitting in the same place right now waiting for God. But
God has already told you what to do it is in His word.
Jesus says my people perish through lack of knowledge, this is so true if you want God to speak to you meet Him in His word.
God has revealed Himself to Basildon Healing Mission through
Matthew 25 vs. 31 – 46.
But the message does not stop there if we really want to find God and we want more of Him then we need to push further into His Kingdom.
The Lord says that if we draw close to Him
He will draw close to us – Amen.
What is the Heart of God what is important to Him?
Luke 10:25 And then a certain lawyer arose to try (test, tempt) Him, saying, Teacher, what am I to do to inherit everlasting life [that is, to partake of eternal salvation in the Messiah's kingdom]?
Luke 10:26 Jesus said to him, What is written in the Law? How do you read it?
Luke 10:27 And he replied, You must love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and your neighbour as yourself.
The relationship with God is a relationship of Love, Paul sums this up in 1 Corinthians 13:.
1 Cor 13:4 Love endures long {and} is patient and kind; love never is envious {nor} boils over with jealousy, is not boastful {or} vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.
1 Cor 13:5 It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) {and} does not act unbecomingly. Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights {or} its own way, {for} it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy {or} fretful {or} resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].
1 Cor 13:6 It does not rejoice at injustice {and} unrighteousness, but rejoices when right {and} truth prevail.
1 Cor 13:7 Love bears up under anything {and} everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
1 Cor 13:8 Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled {and} pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed {and} cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth].
The relationship we can Share with God is intimate very close.
But no less important is our relationship with others.
If we love Jesus we should be like Him.
Luke 10:28 And Jesus said to him, You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live [enjoy active, blessed, endless life in the kingdom of God].
Luke 10:29 And he, determined to acquit himself of reproach, said to Jesus, And who is my neighbour?
Who is our neighbour everyone is your neighbour from the poorest most destitute, to the richest all belong to Jesus.
Luke 10:30 Jesus, taking him up, replied, A certain man was going from Jerusalem down to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him of his clothes and belongings and beat him and went their way, [unconcernedly] leaving him half dead, as it happened.
Luke 10:31 Now by coincidence a certain priest was going down along that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.
Luke 10:32 A Levite likewise came down to the place and saw him, and passed by on the other side [of the road].
Jesus is revealing human nature here even though these two important figures the priest and the Levite were well respected in public even highly favoured. Men looked up to them, they held offices of respect and power, but alone they were mere men. Like men they were ultimately selfish and self important, not wishing to become involved they crossed the road.
We cannot cross the road, if we are to be that good neighbour.
For the heart of the Lord is compassion, mercy, love and if we are to be like Him we need to do the same.
Luke 10:33 But a certain Samaritan, as he traveled along, came down to where he was; and when he saw him, he was moved with pity {and} sympathy [for him],
Love your enemies and do good to those who hurt you, the Jews hated the Samaritans but here was a man from a race of people who were hated and most probably persecuted by the Jews helping one of them. He was Christ like in that he looked beyond the situation to the need, his love held no record of right or wrongs. He had more reason than any to by pass this man, maybe even rob him. But no he cast away all his feelings he showed the man true love for he held no record of right or wrongs but gave and shared what he had with him.
Luke 10:34 And went to him and dressed his wounds, pouring on [them] oil and wine. Then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn and took care of him.
Luke 10:35 And the next day he took out two denarii [two day's wages] and gave [them] to the innkeeper, saying, Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I [myself] will repay you when I return.
The Man did not expect any return or reward, He had nothing to gain from this and even offered to pay more on his return.
He had given two days wages for a man who he did not know or would probably see again. He had even stayed with him all night tending his wounds and nursing him yet he slips away seeking no praise from anyone.
But God had seen what he did, for the things we do in secret will be made known. What love that man showed him!
Luke 10:36 Which of these three do you think proved himself a neighbour to him who fell among the robbers?
Luke 10:37 He answered, The one who showed pity {and} mercy to him. And Jesus said to him, Go and do likewise.
Do you think the lawyer really understood what Jesus is saying here, the fact that whoever is in need, we must help them, think of Ananias in Acts 9 where the Lord asks him to go and pray for Saul the killer of the Christians.
Jesus does not look at the cover, the out wood appearance, what we have done who we are but looks to the need and as Jesus says :-
‘go and do the same.’
Think of who has wronged or hurt you, go and see them and ask for there forgiveness. If they are in need, meet there need even if it costs you.
As the Lord says if we love only those who love us where is the reward in that.
God Bless
