The Kid’s Street Ministry
Pastor Michael began this work in 2007 - 2008 he felt challenged by the message we delivered from
Matthew 25-31-46. He decided to put together a group of volunteers and sponsors.
What was most on their heart was what Jesus was saying to them :-
Matt 25:35 For I was hungry and you gave Me food, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you brought Me together with yourselves {and} welcomed {and} entertained {and} lodged Me,
Matt 25:36 I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you visited Me with help {and} ministering care, I was in prison and you came to see Me.
Also James 1:27 External religious worship [religion as it is expressed in outward acts] that is pure and unblemished in the sight of God the Father is this: to visit {and} help {and} care for the orphans and widows in their affliction {and} need, and to keep oneself unspotted {and} uncontaminated from the world.
The children they are helping are orphaned from their parents by aids or malaria and are left in the care of older relatives (Guardians) who cannot really afford to care for these children.
This is where Pastor Michael and his mission workers came in.
They began their great work often working in the Muslim community helping guardians who are supporting the children. They would each take turns going to the children's houses taking food and clothing . Also sharing the word of God. They always asked permission from the Guardians first.
They would also meet 4 times a week on the streets with different groups of the children to share fellowship and God’s word as well as a drink and some small food.
Then on Sunday they all meet at Pastor Michael's church.
We had the Joy of seeing the mission in action on the streets of Mombassa (see video).
All the helpers give of there own time and money to support this great work.
Pastor Michael asked us if he should instead start an orphanage, but we told him rather he carry on in what God has called him to for he can reach so many more children as they now reach over 400. We just thank God that Pastor Michael has found his calling through God’s word.
